EMERGENCY LIGHTING PRODUCTS TESTING AND MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE
    The building must have a project prepared according to the Regulation on Electrical Interior Facilities Project about emergency lighting subject; all related devices must be in this project and must ensure to update the changes made in time. The results of testing and maintenance reports made as planned should be kept in a registry book. This registry book must contain the informations such as; commissioning of the system, testing and maintenance operations made periodically, the interventions in case of failure, dates and related personnel.
All testing operations must be made by the competent and knowledgeable person/iinstitution on this subject and must be recorded. If there is an automatic testing system the data obtained shall be recorded once in a month. The testing operation shall be made at day time and in weekends when the building is secluded.
Daily Control
   This test is only made for central battery units systems; it is controlled for the normal case by following the light indicator which iis situated on the central battery unit.
Monthly Testing
   This test is made for every kind of devices. For this it must be made by cutting the supply voltage center testing key of the devices or lighting fuse of them or pushing the test button on the device.The visibility of the lighting and guidance devices and the confirmation of the devices working properly should be tested in as little as 5 or 10 minutes. At the end of this time the supply voltage is applied and the confirmation of the situation must be taken by controlling the charge indicators.
Annual Testing
   This test is the same with the monthly test. Only the devices must be controlled if they are out of the circuit pattern or not in a period of time as needed. At the end of this time the supply voltage is applied and the confirmation of the situation must be taken by controlling the charge indicatiors.
Maintenance
   Some of the parts of the devices shall be changed in certain periods and with this aspect the devices shall be maintained. The maintenance should be made during the annual testing.
   The lamp works 8.750 hours in one year in continuously glowing models. The fluorescent lamps’ life is generally between 7.500 and 10.000 hours but this doesn’t mean that the lamps deteriorate after a year; they must be evaluatied as the failure risk of these lamps are increased after one year usage and they must be replaced once in a year.
   Again the batteries used in the devices don’t have eternal lifes. The capacity begins to decrease after 3 and 5 years usage. The batteries of the devices that cannot pass the duration test in annual testing should be replaced with the new ones.
   The pollination inside and outside of the device shall be cleaned during the maintenance, the affection status from temperature and ultraviolet of the lamp and battery sockets shall be observed with network connection connector in terms of safety issues.
